Children’s Liturgy of the Word

Beginning on 10 February, we will begin Children’s Liturgy of the Word during the 9:30 Mass. The children will pick up nametags prior to the Mass, sit with their parents during the opening song and then be dismissed with the lead catechists and helpers before the readings begin. The children in grades kindergarten through 2nd are invited to go to the classroom and hear the readings from Mass and discuss them with the catechists. During the offertory, the children will return to their families. This program is liturgical and is connected to the Mass readings and the prayers. Currently we need some additional helpers for this program. If you are interested in this program, please email Margie  margie@stjeromennva.org  or call the office. If you would like to see this program offered at the 11:30 Mass and are willing to help, please email Margie. If you have a child that is going to participate in this, please register him/her prior to 10 February. There are forms located in the foyer of the church for you to complete and leave. Contact Margie for any additional information or questions.

Ash Wednesday

Masses – 6:30 a.m. – Noon – 7:30 p.m.

On this day the Church invites us to receive a cross of ashes on our foreheads as a sign that during the coming Season of Lent we will make sincere efforts to cleanse our lives of sin and to discipline ourselves through prayer and fasting. The ashes that we receive this day are made from the burned palms of last year.

Ash Wednesday is a day of fasting and abstinence for all, except children and the elderly. Fasting refers to eating only one full meal during the entire day while abstinence is observed by refraining from eating meat.

 Soup Supper

Throughout Lent, Stations of the Cross will be prayed each Friday at 6:30 pm. Stations will be followed by a Soup Supper. On February 9 th, Stations will be led by the Knights of Columbus and they will also prepare vegetable soup for our dinner. Please mark your calendars and plan to join us each week for nourishment of both body and soul.

We Are Grateful

To our Fellowship Committee members who work so many hours so that we can enjoy the wonderful meals, events, special occasions, etc. that they plan for us. We truly, truly appreciate you.

To the Knights of Columbus, Council 5480, for their generosity in organizing, cooking, serving, etc. at the Annual Pancake Breakfast that they provide for people after the 7:30 and 9:30 Masses. Thank you for all the you do for our parish family.

To the Lafountain and Underwood families and all who help them to prepare and set up for Coffee Weekends each month. Thank you for making it possible for all of us to gather in fellowship each month.

(Last Sunday, the Knights cooked delicious pancakes, eggs, and sausages for us. At CORE, the Fellowship Committee cooked scrumptious baked potatoes with lots of great sides, salad and dessert.)
