Snacks and beverages after all Masses next weekend (March 1st and 2nd)

We invite you to join with members of our parish family after all Masses for snacks and beverages next weekend. We will supply the beverages and some of the snack, but ask that you bring a snack to share to the kitchen before the Mass you attend. It isn’t necessary to bring only pastry; fruit, vegetables, peanuts, cheeses, etc. are all welcome. Thank you.

Christian Formation

Children’s Liturgy of the Word will take place during the 9:30 Mass every Sunday. The children will pick up nametags prior to the Mass, sit with their parents during the opening song and then be dismissed with the lead catechists and helpers before the reading begin. The children in grades kindergarten through 2nd are invited to go to the classroom and hear the readings from Mass and discuss them with the catechists. During the offertory, the children will return to their families. If you are interested in this program, please e-mail margie@stjeromennva.org  or call the office. If you would like to see this program offered at the 11:30 Mass and are willing to help, please email Margie.

Come to CORE! The topic this month is Centering Prayer with Father Peter Creed as the presenter. CORE will be on 24 February from 5 – 7pm and is an event for everyone. Please RSVP Margie if you can attend so that we have an accurate count for dinner. This is a great chance to give your Lenten commitments a boast of energy! (oh, and bring a dessert!)

Youth

There will be a 1st year confirmation meeting on March 2nd at 4 pm in the youth group room. All those students that are in their first year of confirmation prep are reminded to attend. Parents and sponsors do not need to attend

On Feb 26th in the Faith and Life building there will be a meeting of ALL people (youth and adult) that are interested in attending our Mission trip this summer. Those that would like to assist in pre-trip planning but can’t attend are also encouraged to attend this informational meeting. It will begin at 7 pm. For question please contact Grimm at youth@stjeromennva.org  or 877-3771

Prayer Shawl Ministry

Our parish Prayer Shawl Ministry is in need of yarn! If you have yarn sitting around your house that you can donate to this wonderful ministry, please drop it off at the office or in the box marked in the foyer of the church. The ladies and those receiving the shawls thank you!

Parish Nurses

What can you do when someone you know feels anxious and depressed?
Helpful information is at the parish nurse bulletin board.

Prayer

From Thomas Merton, a prayer

My Lord God, I have no idea where I am going.
I do not see the road ahead of me.
I cannot know for certain where it will end.

Nor do I really know myself,
and the fact that I think that I am following
Your will does not mean that I am actually doing so.

But I believe that the desire to please You
does in fact please You. And I hope that I have that
desire in all that I am doing. I hope that I will never
do anything apart from that desire. And I know that if
I do this You will lead me by the right road though
I may know nothing about it.

Therefore will I trust You though I may seem to
be lost and in the shadow of death.
I will not fear, for You are ever with me,
and will never leave me to face my perils alone.

Pray without ceasing!

Our Water Buffalo Mission

Your generous contributions of the last two weeks will make it possible to purchase 18 water buffalos. We will continue to have the donation basket in the rear of the Worship Center after each Mass during Lent. Checks may be made out to Heifer Int. or to St. Jerome. Your support of this project with change countless lives and bring us to closer appreciation of our Global Family.

Have you started your plants yet for the Fellowship Committee’s Annual Share Fair and Plant Sale scheduled for April 26? Hope so! Not only is St. Jerome home to some of the best cooks in Virginia; we are also home to some of the best gardeners.
