Present: Father Joe, Ivy D. Lee, Jan D’Urso,
Joe O'Brien, Jan Schroder, Jackie O’Neill, Yolanda Fuller, Steve Taylor,
and Deborah Wright, and Ed Curran.
Jan Schroder read the opening prayer.
After changing one word, Council accepted the
minutes.
Father Joe agreed that Steve Taylor and Ivy Lee will
review the minutes before sending them to the Web Master for posting.
COMMITTEE REPORTS: Jackie O’Neill submitted
written reports from the Justice and Peace Committee from its 15 January
and 19 March meetings. The Peace and Justice Committee is considering a
variety of new initiatives, which includes a movie night.
Many parishioners expressed appreciation for the
moving Easter services and the beautiful decorations. The parish felt that
having the youth of the parish read and perform the Passion highlighted
the Good Friday Service.
A refresher course to provide instructions for the
use of the AED (defibrillator device) for the parish nurses and ushers
will occur soon.
A suggestion was made that our parish needs to be
better prepared to provide assistance or to refer persons that need
assistance to the proper agencies for services that the parish cannot
provide. Addresses and phone numbers for agencies for this purpose will
need updating.
As an extension of Council’s discussion last month
that Ministries might need additional members, the Council learned that
the Liturgy and Befrienders committees might need some additional
assistance. Joe O’Brien has agreed to volunteer to assist with the
Befrienders.
OLD BUSINESS:
Badges for the Council Members: Ed Curran provided
several designs. The Council selected one style, and Mr. Curran will email
each member a form in order to ensure correct names appear on the badges.
Forming an over 40 group: Deborah Wright reported
that she had gone to Mount Carmel to speak to the people who had
spearheaded their two (one disbanded) groups. A handout was provided
describing the 3954 and Nifty-Fifty groups. Council members suggested that
Deborah should ask Terry Merendino to serve as the contact person about
Mount Carmel and St. Jerome either partnering or forming one of our own.
Council suggested that we conduct a “Social Interest Assessment” to
ascertain interest.
Father Joe stated that no date had been arranged to
discuss the clustering proposals.
Father Joe asked that we schedule Joe Petro for the
April meeting.
NEW BUSINESS:
Father Joe asked Chair Ivy Lee to contact Amanda
Edbauer about serving as the youth representative on Parish Council. Jan
Schroder will contact Dan Ponisciak.
